The lower stretch of the Mississippi River, from the carefree port city of New Orleans to vibrant Memphis, is an epic waterway and wellspring of amazing Southern legends.  It is the river of centuries-old shaded oak trees, elegant antebellum plantations, cobblestone streets and Victorian mansions.  Hear the river’s music in blues, jazz, zydeco and rock and roll, and savor its diversity with a host of distinctive Creole and Cajun culinary delights.  The world of Mark Twain’s revered book Life on the Mississippi is best experienced from the vantage point of the graceful American Queen, the most opulent riverboat in the world!  Don’t miss this tour!  Book early!

Day 1

Welcome Aboard! Travel in comfort aboard our deluxe motor coach as we head south toward New Orleans, Louisiana. "The Big Easy" is the birthplace of jazz, delta blues, Cajun music, home of creole cooking, antebellum mansions, and Civil War battlefields, pirates and bayous and Mardi Gras. Before checking into the Fairfield Inn & Suites in Knoxville, Tennessee for the night, we are treated to dinner at a Cracker Barrel restaurant. A $20.00 gift card is provided for you.

Day 2

After a buffet breakfast, we depart for the "Crescent City," New Orleans, Louisiana our port of departure. After checking into our hotel for the night, the evening is yours to venture out and explore the city's famed eateries, unique boutiques, and the lively arts and entertainment scene. Dinner is on your own at the hotel's restaurant or at one of the many restaurants that are within walking distance of the hotel.

Day 3

New Orleans, Louisiana - After a buffet breakfast, we meet our step-on guide, and depart for a tour of New Orleans. Absorb the sights and sounds of the world-famous French Quarter and historic Jackson Square, and follow the path of the St. Charles Avenue streetcar, the oldest continuously operating passenger railway system in the world, (until service was disrupted by Hurricane Katrina), as we tour the "Big Easy". See the homes of former Kings and Queens of Mardi Gras, stately mansions and the world-famous, Garden District. View Tulane and Loyola Universities across from Audubon Park, home of the Audubon Zoo, one of the nation's top five zoos. We conclude our morning of touring with a visit to one of the Historic Cemeteries, referred to as "Cities of the Dead", and learn about this unique above ground burial system. After our tour it's time to board the American Queen, and embark on our New Orleans to Memphis Mississippi River cruise. Depart 5:00 PM

Vicksburg, Mississippi - Described as the "Key to the South" by Abraham Lincoln, discover this magical Southern gem overflowing with a rich history unlike any other Civil War city.

Port of the Mississippi Delta / Greenville, Mississippi - Discover the town's interesting history in its many museums, spend a fun time at the new Trop Casino for a day of gaming, or venture out on a Premium Shore Excursion to B.B. King's hometown of Indianola.

Day 9

River Cruising - Relax on deck with a copy of Huckleberry Finn or another imaginative selection borrowed from the revered Mark Twain Gallery, enjoy some quiet time in the Ladies' Tea Parlor, or recruit your fellow guests for an exciting board game in the Gentlemen's Card Room. For a remarkable one-of-a-kind experience, take a guided tour of the American Queen's Engine Room to explore the inner workings of our classic, steam-powered vessel.

Day 10

Memphis - After breakfast and a wonderful Mississippi River cruise, we disembark the American Queen and board our deluxe motor coach for our overnight accommodations in Knoxville, Tennessee at the Fairfield Inn & Suites. A dinner stop will be made en route to Knoxville.

After a buffet breakfast we depart for home having enjoyed the fellowship of friends old and new on our 2020 American Queen Mississippi River Cruise. We return home from this extraordinary get-away with many wonderful memories, pictures and souvenirs of charmed Southern cities and the amazing Mississippi River!
