Day 1

Welcome Aboard! Join Gunther Tours for a yuletide season get-away to see lights, sights and pure delights in "The Buckeye State," Ohio. Before checking into the Drury Inn & Suites in Middletown, Ohio for the next three nights, we are treated to a delicious dinner at the Historic Golden Lamb Inn. This picturesque historic site may look familiar to you, it was used in the filming of "Harper Valley PTA" and "Milk Money".


Day 2

After a buffet breakfast, we take a short ride to Beau Verre Studios for a guided tour. Walk among period Arts & Crafts furniture, and take in all the beautiful glass creations from the Beau Verre - Riordan artisans and watch the masters at work creating stained glass windows. Also, you can visit the art gallery which contains works from many area artists: including sculptures, paintings and jewelry. You will have the opportunity to purchase a wide variety of unique selections from the gift shop. Next, we visit Bern's Garden Center, the largest grower of Poinsettia's. Here, you will learn about the myths and misconceptions of Poinsettia's during a talk given by a horticulturist. Also on display are thousands of Christmas gift ideas, trees, wreaths and much more. A special gift is included! Following our visit to Bern's Garden Center, we meet our step-on guide and depart for an afternoon of sightseeing. After lunch on your own we arrive At the Manger - World Nativity Traditions in Dayton, Ohio. You will see Nativity sets of the long hidden but rich and colorful artistic tradition of Eastern Europe in the Gallery. The Creche Museum will hold variations of Nativities including a selection of its expansive and unique collection of 3,500 Nativity scenes from more than 100 countries. See how people around the world ponder and picture the birth of Christ through many different cultural lenses. Next, we depart for an early Old-Fashioned Holiday Dinner at the Greene County Historical Society. You'll enjoy the ambience as you dine in the Brantley Carriage House with its toy trains and railroad memorabilia. A Conductor welcomes us and we are served by staff dressed as Porters and Conductors. Following dinner, we are entertained by Bob Ford's World of Folklore & Fun! Listen to familiar folk tunes to holiday classics by Burl Ives and the Kingston Trio. Before returning to our hotel for a restful night's sleep, we conclude our day of touring with a visit to the Lights at Clifton Mill. Clifton Mill is one of the most impressive Christmas light displays in the nation, with over 3.5 million lights in a breathtaking natural setting. There is a 100-foot waterfall of lights, a Miniature Village and Santa Claus Museum. You will see the country's largest Santa Claus collection, with over 3,000 Santa's, dating from 1850 to 2001. In addition, see the live Santa in his workshop, the replicated miniature village complete with parade, river boats and train display, the Nativity scene, Log Cabin and Covered Bridge. WOW!

Day 3

After a buffet breakfast, we depart for Friesingers Chocolates in Springboro, Ohio. The visit will include seeing the production of fine quality chocolates and candies through a viewing window and a gift bag of Friesingers candy specialties. Next, we arrive at the La Comedia Dinner Theatre, one of the finest and largest dinner theaters in the Mid-West. Enjoy a wonderful buffet meal and a holiday show! Following the show, we return to our hotel where you will have time to sit, relax and freshen up before enjoying the Manager's Reception with free hot food & cold beverages, including beer, wine and mixed drinks. Tonight, we visit Light Up Middletown and are entertained with a driving tour through a 100-acre park featuring spectacular displays of Christmas lights that illuminate the night sky in Southwestern Ohio's largest holiday light show and festival!

Day 4

After a buffet breakfast we depart for Cambridge, Ohio. Upon our arrival downtown, we are treated to a delicious lunch at Theo's Restaurant, a family dining tradition since 1931. Following lunch, we meet our Christmas Past character guide, and depart on a driving tour of Dickens Victorian Village. These classic Dicken-era scenes consist of 180 lifelike Victorian-era character mannequins, all frozen at a moment in time. You will walk among mannequins as if you're walking through a portal onto a charming street in Old London. After our tour, we stop in at the Dickens Welcome Center/Ye Ole Curiosity Shoppe where volunteers in costume share stories and photos of how the Dickens display was created. The Imagination Station is everyone's favorite place for reminiscing. You will select a perfect Victorian hat, gloves, and cape as you imagine being a Victorian yourself and posing for a picture with Charles Dickens. Next, we say goodbye to our guide and begin our travel northeastward to our overnight accommodations in Clark, Pennsylvania at Tara - A Country Inn. Inspired by the iconic movie "Gone with the Wind", Tara is in real sense the embodiment of the Old South. Tara offers you a lasting impression of Southern Hospitality and a chance to enjoy the luxuries of days gone by. Lined with thousands of white lights, the dazzling grounds beckon you to enter and enjoy the warmth of the fireplaces and spectacular decorations within the walls of Tara. Each year multitudes of trees and garlands are hand-decorated with loving care to bring the joy of the season to all who visit. Upon our arrival, you will be greeted by hospitable staff and be taken on a tour of the 1854 antebellum mansion. Tara is a virtual museum of "Gone with the Wind" memorabilia and Civil War artifacts. After our tour, enjoy a High Tea at Tara with petite sandwiches, desserts and an assortment of teas. Prior to dinner this evening, relax in your luxurious accommodations and marvel at the splendor and elaborate holiday décor of this fabulous Country Inn, including the Gardens decorated for the holidays and Remington statues, the beautiful 450-acre Shenango Lake, the in-door pool, Stonewall's Tavern and gift shop . . . relaxation at its finest! Tonight, a savory family style dinner will be served in the "Old South Restaurant", occupied with holiday piano music.

After an Old-Fashioned Christmas morning holiday buffet breakfast, served family style, settle back and enjoy a holiday themed movie on our drive home, while reminiscing about "The Buckeye State" yuletide lights, sights, pure delights and a delightful Country Inn Christmas - Tara Style!
