Gunther Tours has planned a special “Fall 5-Day Escape” for our travelers who want to get away, yet don’t have a lot of time to do so.  The Value Tour features travel days on Monday and Friday, and visits to the destination attractions on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.  Our “Fall 5-Day Escape” get-away Value Tour is designed to be fun and affordable!  Your on-board Gunther Tours Escort will help pass the time on the travel days by playing games, showing a movie or two, and scheduling quiet time to relax and enjoy the scenery along the highway.  Note:  This Value Tour is not meant for travelers who expect anything more than a short, fun and affordable get-away!  So, come get-away with Gunther Tours and spend 2 glorious nights at the world-famous Grand Hotel . . . you deserve it!

Day 1

Welcome Aboard! Enjoy the breathtaking fall foliage scenery along every turn of the highway as we begin our journey towards the Victorian-style island of Mackinac Island, Michigan. A picturesque island that evokes a bygone era, Mackinac Island is often called the "Bermuda of the North". After checking into the DoubleTree by Hilton in Dearborn, Michigan for the night, relax and enjoy a leisurely dinner on your own at the hotel's restaurant.

Day 2

After a buffet breakfast, we depart for Indian River, Michigan. Upon our arrival, we visit The Cross in the Woods National Shrine; one of Michigan's best known and most visited shrines. Here we will view the monumental sculpture of the crucified Christ titled "The Man on the Cross" created by the renowned Michigan sculptor Marshall Fredericks. The crucifix stands taller than the surrounding trees and is a moving sight to behold! Following our visit, we depart for Mackinaw City, Michigan and the City Dock, where we will travel by ferry to the "Magical Land" of Mackinac Island, Michigan. A horse-drawn carriage will be waiting at the dock to transport you to the world-famous Grand Hotel, your luxurious accommodations for the next two nights. Experience fine dining and gracious hospitality in the hotels beautifully appointed main dining room this evening when you order dinner, off the menu. Note: At the Grand Hotel, there is a dress code after 6:00 PM. Gentlemen are required to wear a jacket and tie, and the ladies are required to wear a dress, skirt, or pants suit.

Day 3

After breakfast, we meet our driver/guide and climb aboard a horse-drawn carriage for a narrated tour of this lovely Victorian-style island that has defied time. Following your horse-drawn carriage ride enjoy some leisure time strolling through the cottage-filled village dotted with flowers, and explore the shops along Huron Street, or sit and relax in one of the famous "Rockers on the Longest Porch in the Country". Tonight, a delicious dinner, off the menu awaits you in the main dining room. Note: At the Grand Hotel, there is a dress code after 6:00 PM. Gentlemen are required to wear a jacket and tie, and the ladies are required to wear a dress, skirt, or pants suit.

Day 4

Enjoy breakfast at your leisure. With part of the morning free you may wish to simply sit back, relax, and enjoy the grand comforts of this luxurious hotel. Later we experience a final slice of gracious dining as we prepare to say goodbye to the Grand Hotel. Enjoy dining at the famous buffet luncheon at the Grand Hotel before we are transported by horse-drawn carriage down to the dock to the ferry for our cruise back to the mainland. Once on the mainland we depart for our overnight stay at the DoubleTree by Hilton in Dearborn, Michigan. Tonight, relax and enjoy a leisurely dinner on your own at the hotel's restaurant.

After a buffet breakfast, we depart for home taking with us memories of a get-away filled with the grandeur and romance of a by-gone era experienced and enjoyed at the world-famous Grand Hotel, the legendary Victorian hotel on Mackinac Island.
