Gunther Tours has planned a special “Spring 5-Day Escape” for our travelers who want to get away, yet don’t have a lot of time to do so.  The Value Tour features travel days on Monday and Friday, and visits to the destination attractions on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.  Our “Spring 5-Day Escape” get-away Value Tour is designed to be fun and affordable!  Your on-board Gunther Tours Escort will help pass the time on the travel days by playing games, showing a movie or two, and scheduling quiet time to relax and enjoy the scenery along Interstate 95.  Note:  This Value Tour is not meant for travelers who expect anything more than a short, fun and affordable get-away!  So, come get-away with Gunther Tours . . . you deserve it!

Day 1

Welcome Aboard! Soon you will discover for yourself why Charleston, South Carolina has been deemed the "Charm Spot of The South". Meanwhile, relax, enjoy the changing scenery and have fun with onboard activities as we travel south today. We check into the Comfort Suites West of the Ashley for the next four nights. Conveniently located, the hotel is a short ride from Charleston's historic district. A dinner stop will be made en route to Charleston. Dinner is on your own.

Day 2

After a deluxe continental breakfast, we meet our step-on guide, and depart for a tour of historic Charleston. Points of interest on our tour will include the old historic city of Charleston, the famous Battery Waterfront district, and a drive through the Citadel - The Military College of South Carolina. Your tour will also include admission to the Edmondston-Alston House. Dating to 1825, step into a world of Antebellum elegance and style. See furniture, silver and paintings original to the Alston family and view the harbor from the 2nd floor piazza. Following our tour, we visit the Old City Market for some leisure time, shopping and lunch on your own. The Old City Market features more than 100 vendors selling everything from local foods to souvenirs. After lunch, we depart for Wadmalaw Island, South Carolina. Upon our arrival, we will visit the Charleston Tea Plantation, the only tea plantation in America. Enjoy a tour of the factory, followed by a narrated trolley ride through the plantation fields. Before returning to our hotel, we are treated to a delicious dinner at Hyman's Seafood.

Day 3

After a deluxe continental breakfast, we depart for Savannah, Georgia. Upon our arrival, we will visit the Savannah History Museum. To provide you with the best possible tour experience, first we will view the film presentation "Savannah the Survivor", in the museum's plush theatre. Next take a self-guided tour and walk through Savannah's history from 1733 to the present day. Here we will see Forrest Gump's Bench, historic fashions from bygone days, vehicles that rumbled down the port city's streets decades ago, and much more! A delicious lunch will be served after the tour at The River House Seafood Restaurant. Experience genuine Savannah flavor while dining in a restored 1820's King Cotton Warehouse while watching the merchant ships float by. Following lunch, we meet our step-on guide for a tour of historic Savannah that will highlight Savannah's many historical attractions. Your tour will also include admission to the Isaiah Davenport House, considered one of the best examples of Federal-Style architecture in Savannah. The simple but elegant exterior was constructed of English brick and brownstone and features an ornamental iron railing and handsome double entry stairway. After our tour enjoy some leisure time strolling along the cobblestone-paved Factors Walk and River Street, where old cotton warehouses have been converted into trendy shops, taverns and restaurants. Before returning to our hotel in Charleston, enjoy dinner on your own at one of Savannah's well-known restaurants.

Day 4

After a deluxe continental breakfast we depart for Magnolia Plantation & Gardens, recognized as one of America's finest and most beautifully maintained plantations. To provide you with the best possible tour experience, first we will view a 22-minute introductory film on the plantation & gardens before enjoying a guided tram tour of the various gardens. Following our tour, we return to Charleston for lunch on your own. After lunch, we embark on a narrated cruise around Charleston Harbor that will include a visit to historic Fort Sumter National Monument, the fort where the Civil War began. You'll get to see where the 1st shots of the Civil War were fired and learn about Fort Sumter's role in history. View Battery Park, the Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge and Fort Moultrie. You may even see dolphins along the way. Later we will return to our hotel where you will have some time to sit, relax and freshen up before going out for a delicious dinner at the Charleston Crab House.

After a deluxe continental breakfast we depart for home taking with us fond memories of Charleston and Savannah, and the rich history, beauty and extraordinary hospitality experienced in these two magical southern cities!
