Day 1

Welcome Aboard! Travel in comfort aboard our deluxe motor coach towards the Victorian-style island of Mackinac Island, Michigan. A picturesque island that evokes a bygone era, Mackinac Island is often called the "Bermuda of the North". After checking into the DoubleTree by Hilton in Dearborn, Michigan for the night, we are treated to a delicious dinner at the hotel.

Day 2

After a buffet breakfast, we depart for Indian River, Michigan. Upon our arrival, we visit The Cross in the Woods National Shrine; one of Michigan's best known and most visited shrines. Here we will view the monumental sculpture of the crucified Christ titled "The Man on the Cross" created by the renowned Michigan sculptor Marshall Fredericks. The crucifix stands taller than the surrounding trees and is a moving sight to behold! Following our visit, we depart for Mackinaw City, Michigan and the City Dock, where we will travel by ferry to the "Magical Land" of Mackinac Island, Michigan. A horse-drawn carriage will be waiting at the dock to transport you to the world-famous Grand Hotel, your luxurious accommodations for the next two nights. Experience fine dining and gracious hospitality in the hotels beautifully appointed main dining room this evening when you order dinner, off the menu. Note: At the Grand Hotel, there is a dress code after 6:00 PM. Gentlemen are required to wear a jacket and tie, and the ladies are required to wear a dress, skirt, or pants suit.

Day 3

After breakfast, we meet our driver/guide and climb aboard a horse-drawn carriage for a narrated tour of this lovely Victorian-style island that has defied time. Following your horse-drawn carriage ride enjoy some leisure time strolling through the cottage-filled village dotted with flowers, and explore the shops along Huron Street, or sit and relax in one of the famous "Rockers on the Longest Porch in the Country". Tonight, a delicious dinner, off the menu awaits you in the main dining room. Note: At the Grand Hotel, there is a dress code after 6:00 PM. Gentlemen are required to wear a jacket and tie, and the ladies are required to wear a dress, skirt, or pants suit.

Day 4

Enjoy breakfast at your leisure. With part of the morning free you may wish to simply sit back, relax, and enjoy the grand comforts of this luxurious hotel prior to departing Mackinac Island. We are transported by horse-drawn carriage down to the dock to the ferry in the early afternoon for our cruise back to the Michigan mainland. Once on the mainland settle back, relax and enjoy the scenery on our drive to Dearborn, Michigan. Before checking into the DoubleTree by Hilton for the next two nights, we are treated to a delicious dinner at a local restaurant.

Day 5

After a buffet breakfast, we visit one of America's greatest history attractions, the Henry Ford Museum and Greenfield Village. On the grounds of the Henry Ford Museum we will tour historic homes and workshops of famous Americans, including those of The Wright Brothers, Thomas Edison, Henry Ford, and Robert Frost. We have included the Greenfield Village Transportation Pass offered by the museum as part of your tour package so that you may best experience and enjoy the fascinating historic nature of Greenfield Village, which features over 80 acres of American ingenuity and innovation. The pass entitles you to ride on the historic steam locomotive, in a vintage Model T or a Model AA bus, a horse-drawn carriage, the Suwanee Boat (in season) and the Herschell-Spillman Carousel. Later we return to our hotel to relax, unwind and freshen up before this evening's dinner at the hotel.

Day 6

After a buffet breakfast, settle back, relax and enjoy the scenery on our drive to Canton, Ohio and the Canton Classic Car Museum. Enjoy a self-guided tour through the museum and see forty-five rare and unusual classic and special interest automobiles. Also, view a collection of related vintage toys, steam engines, movie posters, and historic photography. Next, we travel to Dover, Ohio, located in Ohio's Amish Country. Upon our arrival we will check into the Comfort Inn, where you will have some leisure time to relax before we depart for dinner. Later we make the short trip to Sugarcreek, Ohio for a delicious Amish Country buffet dinner at Dutch Valley Restaurant, "The Area's Amish Kitchen Cooking Destination". Following dinner, we return to our hotel for a good night's sleep.

Day 7

After a deluxe continental breakfast, we depart for a perennial favorite of Gunther Tours travelers, the Warthers Museum for a private tour. Earnest "Mooney" Warther is best known for his ivory and ebony carvings of steam engines. You will see carvings created out of wood, ivory and pearl ranging from entire trains to a hand carved steel mill. You will be amazed by the intricate detail and exceptional craftsmanship required to create this unique collection of carved masterpieces! Following our tour, we depart for home with a rich collection of memories that include an admiration for the grandeur and romance of the Victorian era, a greater admiration and appreciation of the genius of American inventors, classic cars, and the discovery of the unique artistry and craftsmanship of Earnest Warther! A lunch stop will be made en route home.
