Day 2

After a hearty continental breakfast we meet our step-on guide, and depart for a day of sightseeing. We begin our touring at the White Mountains Visitor's Center where we are provided with an excellent overview of the White Mountains. While you're here take time to visit the Gift Shop. Next we embark on a riding tour along the Kancamagus Highway as we travel to the Hobo Railroad for an 80-minute train excursion. Settle into the clickety-clack of the rails, enjoying the natural, woodsy setting along the Pemigewasset River. A hobo picnic lunch is included on board the train. The next stop of the day will be a visit at the Franconia Notch Visitors Center where we will view an orientation film and exhibits about the State Park and the White Mountains. Following our visit we continue onto Sugar Hill, New Hampshire. We arrive at the Sugar Hill Sampler & Museum, a unique experience - a gift shop and museum thoughtfully displayed in a colonial barn built by the owner's ancestors in the 1790's. Where once wagons rolled in with tons of hay and farm animals called it home, this unique property has been sensitively remodeled into 4,000 square feet of display and museum space framed by hand-hewn beams, old barn boards, and even some original flooring cut from the farm's forest in the 1800's. Visitors come from far and wide each year to browse, sample homemade products, and explore the museum and photo gallery full of area history and lore. A real treasure! Our final stop of the day will be at the Basin located in Franconia Notch State Park. Thousands of years of rushing water has eroded the rock into a smooth, circular cave-like formation. Below the Basin is another water-eroded rock formation called the Old Man's Foot. Before returning to the Inn for a good night's sleep, we are treated to a delicious dinner at a restaurant that serves up great local flavors.

Day 3

After a hearty continental breakfast we meet our step-on guide, and depart for another day of sightseeing. Our guided tour takes us through the White Mountains, from Franconia Notch to Mount Washington, to our first destination of the day, the Rocks Estate in Bethlehem, New Hampshire. Rocks Estate is a 1,400-acre preserve overlooking New Hampshire's Presidential Mountain Range. The Rocks Estate was the summer home of a successful Chicago businessman in 19th-century, and is now owned by the Society for the Protection of New Hampshire Forests. Enjoy an entertaining and educational presentation on the Estate's Moose & Bear Program built around two of New Hampshire's most intriguing animals. The use of antlers, pelts and skulls by the program guide will enhance your understanding of the habits and habitat of these animals. Following our tour we continue onto Bretton Woods, New Hampshire. We arrive at the Mount Washington Hotel and meet with the resident expert on the Mount Washington Hotel, for a guided hotel tour. A favorite New England retreat of presidents, poets and celebrities, the hotel delights every sense with enchanting music, refined dining and luxurious décor. Following our tour, unwind with an exquisite luncheon in the main dining room. Don't forget your cameras! Later, we return to the Inn to freshen up before joining in the fun at "Sled Dogz". Enjoy a very informative, interesting and fun presentation on how these "snow" dogs love being "mushers" pulling sleds in the winter! Learn about their habitats, the Iditarod in Alaska, and much more! Tonight, join your fellow travelers for a wine and cheese reception, followed by a delicious dinner served at the Inn.

Day 4

After a hearty continental breakfast we depart for home with many fond memories of New Hampshire's scenic highways, byways and landscapes covered in brilliant fall colors, a grand regional hotel and a new understanding of the lives of moose, bears and sled dogs!
