Day 1

Welcome Aboard! Settle back, relax and enjoy a leisurely drive up the New Jersey Turnpike to Liberty State Park in New Jersey. Upon our arrival, we embark on our ferry ride on the Hudson River to Ellis Island and Statue of Liberty Island. As a bonus, we are treated to a fabulous view of the Manhattan skyline en route. The Statue of Liberty is one of the abiding images of America, and Ellis Island is one of the country's most important historic sites. After spending the day exploring these two landmark national parks, we meet our Gunther Tours Escort on the Statue of Liberty Island and travel by ferry across the Hudson to Battery State Park in New York City. We meet our deluxe motor coach and depart for the Belvedere Hotel located in the theatre district for the next two nights. Tonight, enjoy a delicious dinner on your own at one of New York City's fine restaurants.

Day 2

After a buffet breakfast, we meet our step-on guide, and depart for a "Downtown Tour" aboard our deluxe motor coach. We will ride through some of New York City's famous neighborhoods including the Garment District, Greenwich Village, SoHo, the Financial District and we'll see the Empire State Building and Macy's Department Store on 34th Street. Following our tour, we arrive at the World Trade Center Observation Tower at One World Trade Center. Enjoy a brief overview of the building's history and construction, before ascending to the top of the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere - 1776 feet tall in less than sixty seconds. Floor-to-ceiling LED technology in each elevator projects a virtual time-lapse recreation of New York City's skyline from the 1500s to present day, offering you more than a mere elevator ride. Upon our arrival at the Observatory on the 100th floor, look out on the expansive horizon and feel the city's invincible spirit. Take in the iconic sights, surrounding waters and panoramic views of the skyline and beyond. Next we arrive at the 9/11 Museum. The National September 11 Memorial Museum is an educational and historical institution honoring the nearly 3,000 people killed in the terror attacks of September 11, 2001 and serves as the country's principal institution for examining the implications of the events of 9/11, documenting the impact of those events and exploring the continuing significance of September 11, 2001. The story of 9/11 is experienced through multimedia displays, archives, narratives and a collection of monumental and authentic artifacts which allow the viewer to understand what happened on 9/11, how people responded in the aftermath of the attacks, and the history and rebuilding of the World Trade Center. Also, visit the 9/11 Memorial. The Memorial encompasses two reflecting pools which have 52,000 gallons of water cycling through the pools every minute, and features the victim's names etched in bronze on the Memorial pools. Tonight, enjoy dinner at a restaurant conveniently located within walking distance of the hotel. Dinner is on your own.

Day 3

After a buffet breakfast, we meet our step-on guide, and continue our exploration of New York City on our "Uptown Tour" aboard our motor coach. Highlights of our tour today will include riding up through the affluent West Side of Central Park called "Millionaires Row", where many celebrities, actors and T.V. personalities call home. Next we tour Harlem prior to visiting the Cathedral of St. John the Divine and Grant's Tomb. The largest mausoleum in North America, Grant's Tomb is located across from the monumental Riverside Church, the tallest church in the United States. We continue our tour driving down world famous Fifth Avenue to see the upscale retail shops before walking into Central Park to view the lovely Conservatory Garden. Following our guided tour, we arrive at Eataly, an indoor Italian Marketplace located in the heart of New York City for lunch on your own. Eataly is a unique combination of sandwich stands, market style stalls and full-fledged restaurants where you can purchase a wide variety of Italian delicacies. Before leaving the marketplace, you will have time for browsing in the gift shop which features an eclectic selection of housewares, apparel, books, as well as unique gift boxes for that special occasion. Later we conclude our New York City get-away and depart for home with unique and powerful memories of NYC and the amazing sites and landmarks we visited while in "The Big Apple"!
