Today we visit the Philadelphia Museum of Art in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to view the fascinating and enchanting exhibitions, Perfect Little Ladies: The World of Victorian Fashion Dolls and Fabulous Fashion: From Dior’s New Look to Now!  The attention to detail and skill required in the construction of the garments both large and small will inspire delight and admiration!  The museum is playing dress-up, with a stylish exhibition, Perfect Little Fashions: The World of Victorian Fashion Dolls.  Before Barbie and American Girl, there was Miss Fanchon.  The ultimate toy for privileged girls in the 1860s and 1870s, she and her friends were seen as models of ladylike perfection.  These dolls came with an amazing array of dresses, undergarments, and meticulously crafted accessories, from gloves and jewelry to roller skates and calling cards.  Bring the kids – or just your love of all things miniature – and marvel at these tiny Victorian treasures!  The museum also gives equal attention to the brilliance and allure of adult fashion with the Fabulous Fashion: From Dior’s New Look to Now exhibition.  Experience the drama and glamour of some of the most creative feminine fashions ever designed, from romantic ball gowns to audacious contemporary ensembles, and everything in between.  See how designers have used color and pattern, shape and volume, draping, metallic, and embellishments to continually reinvent the art form.  The pieces in the exhibition – daywear, bridal wear, and more – showcase the Museum’s outstanding costume collection.  Many are on view for the first time!  Before our self-guided tour, enjoy a delicious lunch at Jack’s Firehouse Restaurant.  Set in a 19th-century firehouse in the Fairmount neighborhood of Philadelphia, Jack’s Firehouse offers a unique setting with an elegant old neighborhood feel.  Please provide a meal choice when making your reservations.  Your choices are Southern Style Pulled Pork Sandwich, Roasted Chicken, Pecan Coated Catfish or Vegetarian Pasta.
