Day 1

Overnight Flight. Your Italian holiday adventure begins with an overnight flight from Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport to Rome, Italy, the "Eternal City".

Day 2

Rome, Italy - Tour Begins. Welcome to Italy, a land rich in history, culture, art and romance. Tonight, meet your fellow travelers over a savory dinner featuring regional delicacies and fine Italian wines. We spend two nights in Rome.

Day 3

Rome. Today, explore Rome on a panoramic sightseeing tour featuring the impressive Piazza Venezia, the Circus Maximus, the Arch of Constantine, the famous Piazza Navona, and a visit to the Colosseum. Spend the remainder of your day relaxing or set out on your own to investigate some of Rome's world-famous landmarks and attractions including Trevi Fountain, the Spanish Steps, Trajan's Column, Borghese Gallery and the National Gallery and Palatine Hill, the Roman Forum and much more. If you wish to explore Vatican City, an optional tour to the Vatican Museums and St. Peter's Basilica can be added to your itinerary.

Day 4

Rome - Assisi - Perugia/Assisi. Start your day with a trip to the medieval city of Assisi, the birthplace of St. Francis, founder of the Franciscan Order. Explore the old-world atmosphere on a guided walking tour of the old city, including a stop at the Basilica of St. Francis. The basilica is one of the most important places of Christian pilgrimage in Italy. Assisi's medieval artistic masterpieces and the spiritual message of the Franciscan Order contributed significantly to the development of Italian and European art and architecture. Assisi was designed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2000. Then, we travel to Perugia, the historic capital of Umbria. Behold one of the grandest squares in Italy, the Piazza IV Novembre. Located in the heart of Perugia, this small square is encircled by some of the city's most famous landmarks. See stunning art galleries, ancient municipal buildings and towering cathedrals. The square is also lined with cafés and restaurants so you can relax and unwind after sightseeing. We spend the night in Perugia.

Day 5

Perugia/Assisi - Siena - Florence. Today, a scenic journey through Tuscany's graceful low-lying hills brings you to the mystical city of Siena. Delight in the narrow Gothic streets, magnificent palaces and the historic Piazza Del Campo. Enjoy a walking tour with a local guide, and some leisure time to explore the medieval corners of Siena on your own. UNESCO has declared the historic center of Siena a World Heritage Site. Famous for its cuisine, art, museums, medieval cityscape and the Palio, a horse race held twice a year, Siena is one of Italy's most visited tourist attractions. You are sure to find many surprises among its shops and outdoor cafés. Later, we arrive in Florence and enjoy some leisure time for exploring before gathering for a delicious dinner. We spend two nights in Florence.

Day 6

Florence. In Florence, you will visit the world-famous Academy Gallery to see Michelangelo's incredible statue of David. During your tour of Florence, you'll also view the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, the Palazzo Vecchio and the Church of Santa Croce. Spend the remainder of your day relaxing or set out to explore more of Florence on your own. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, Florence is considered the birthplace of the Renaissance, and has been called "the Athens of the Middle Ages". Florence's museums, palaces, and churches house some of the greatest artistic treasures in the world. Be adventurous and explore such popular and important sites including the Baptistery, the Uffizi, the Bargello, and the library of San Lorenzo or climb the hill to the Basilica of San Miniato al Monte to experience an enchanting view of Florence, Italy.

Day 7

Florence - Venice. We begin our day with a visit to a historic winery in the heart of the Chianti region. In the shadow of its 12th-century castle, learn about the winery's famed Tuscan wines and enjoy a light lunch filled with local specialties. This afternoon, journey through central Italy, crossing the wooded Apennine Mountains toward the Valley of the Po. Enchanting Venice awaits you with its 117 tiny islands and its latticework of 150 canals and 400 bridges. We spend two nights in Venice.

Day 8

Venice - Murano Island - Venice. Known throughout the world for its ancient tradition of glass making, we begin our day with a fascinating boat trip among the lagoon islands of Venice, with an excursion to Murano Island for an up-close glass making demonstration. Discover the secrets of this ancient art and marvel at the intricate designs of each one-of-a-kind piece. Then, we make our way to St. Mark's Square where it's your choice! Join a local guide on a walking tour of this famous square to view the stunning Basilica and visit the impressive Doge's Palace and the legendary Bridge of Sights. Or you may select to go off the beaten path to explore the Castello Sestiere district with a local guide. Get to know authentic Venice and see for yourself how the locals live, as you walk canal by canal through the narrow streets lined with churches and historic buildings. Spend the remainder of your day relaxing or set out to explore more of Venice on your own.

Day 9

Venice - Milan, Malpensa. Today, we journey to Milan for a guided walking tour. Highlights of our tour will include some of the city's amazing sights, the Opera House La Scala, the Vittorio Emanuele Gallery, and a visit to Duomo Di Milano, a magnificent Gothic Cathedral and the third largest church in Europe. After our tour, enjoy some shopping time at the "Quadrilatero della Moda", Milan's high-fashion district. Tonight, join your fellow travelers for a farewell dinner celebration of "La Dolce Vita" and the end of a fabulous trip. We spend the night in Milan.
