Day 1

Welcome Aboard! Travel in comfort aboard our deluxe motor coach towards the Victorian-style island of Mackinac Island, Michigan. A picturesque island that evokes a bygone era, Mackinac Island is often called the "Bermuda of the North". After checking into the DoubleTree in Dearborn, Michigan for the night, we are treated to a delicious dinner at the hotel.

Day 2

After a buffet breakfast, we depart for Indian River, Michigan. Upon our arrival, we visit The Cross in the Woods National Shrine; one of Michigan's best known and most visited shrines. Here we will view the monumental sculpture of the crucified Christ titled "The Man on the Cross" created by the renowned Michigan sculptor Marshall Fredericks. The crucifix stands taller than the surrounding trees and is a sight to behold! Following our visit, we depart for Mackinaw City, Michigan and the City Dock, where we will travel by ferry to the "Magical Land" of Mackinac Island, Michigan. A horse-drawn carriage will be waiting at the dock to transport you to the world-famous Grand Hotel, your luxurious accommodations for the next two nights. This evening experience fine dining and gracious hospitality in the hotels main dining room when you order dinner, off the menu. Note: At the Grand Hotel, there is a dress code after 6:00 PM. Gentlemen are required to wear a jacket and tie, and the ladies are required to wear a dress, skirt, or pants suit.

Day 3

After breakfast, we meet our driver/guide and climb aboard a horse-drawn carriage for a narrated tour of this lovely Victorian-style island that has defied time. Following your horse-drawn carriage ride enjoy some leisure time strolling through the cottage-filled village dotted with flowers, and explore the shops along Huron Street, or sit and relax in one of the famous "Rockers on the Longest Porch in the Country". Tonight, a delicious dinner, off the menu awaits you in the main dining room. Note: At the Grand Hotel, there is a dress code after 6:00 PM. Gentlemen are required to wear a jacket and tie, and the ladies are required to wear a dress, skirt, or pants suit.

Day 4

After breakfast, we are transported by horse-drawn carriage down to the dock to the ferry for our cruise back to the mainland. Once on the mainland we depart for the unique town of Frankenmuth, Michigan, an enchanting town with a rich Bavarian influence and gingerbread-style architecture. Upon our arrival, we meet our step-on guide for a tour of Frankenmuth. The tour will highlight the city's unique attractions, the Bavarian theme quaint stores, and the rich German heritage on which the city was founded. Following your tour, we'll visit the world's largest Christmas store, Bronner's Christmas Wonderland. Our accommodations for the night are at the Bavarian Inn Lodge, a downtown hotel located on the banks of the Cass River. Tonight, we are treated to a delicious buffet dinner, followed by entertainment at the lodge.

Day 5

After a buffet breakfast settle back, relax and enjoy the scenery on our drive to Dover, Ohio. After checking into the Comfort Inn for the night, you will have time to relax and freshen up before going out for a special evening at Warthers Museum. Here you will receive a private tour, followed by a candlelight dinner in the Ivory Room. Earnest "Mooney" Warther is best known for his ivory and ebony carvings of steam engines. You will see carvings created out of wood, ivory and pearl ranging from entire trains to a hand carved steel mill. You will be amazed by the intricate detail and exceptional craftsmanship required to create this unique collection of carved masterpieces!

Day 6

After a deluxe continental breakfast, we depart for a perennial favorite of Gunther Tours travelers, the Canton Classic Car Museum in Canton, Ohio. Enjoy a self-guided tour through the museum and see forty-five rare and unusual classic and special interest automobiles. Also, view a collection of related vintage toys, steam engines, movie posters, and historic photography. Following lunch on your own, we depart for home with a rich collection of memories that include an admiration for the grandeur and romance of the Victorian era, a new-found respect for America's German and Bavarian heritage, the discovery of the unique artistry and craftsmanship of Earnest Warther, and classic cars. WOW, What a Tour!
