Travel today to our nation’s capital, Washington, D.C., and spend a delightful afternoon with the cast of “In the Heights” at The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.  The musical is based on a book by Quiara Alegria Hudes with music and lyrics by Lin-Manuel Miranda.  The first Broadway musical by Lin-Manuel Miranda, it tells the story of a vibrant, largely Dominican-American community on the brink of change in New York’s Washington Heights neighborhood.  The windows are always open, the breeze carries the rhythm of three generations of music, and the biggest struggles can be deciding which traditions you continue to hold on to, and which ones you leave behind.  In 2008 “In the Heights” won Tony Awards for Best Musical, Best Score, Best Choreography, Best Orchestrations, and a Grammy Award for Best Musical Show Album.  Note: “In the Heights” is recommended for ages 8 and older.  Before the show enjoy a delicious lunch at Gadsby’s Tavern in Old Town Alexandria, Virginia.  A U.S. National Historic Landmark, Gadsby’s Tavern has been offering fine dining since 1770.  Your choices are Roast Beef, Chicken Fontina, Jumbo-Lump Crab Cake or Butternut Squash, Apple & Goat Cheese Ravioli“In the Heights” is presented in the Kennedy Center’s Eisenhower Theater with Center Balcony SeatsShowtime at 2:00 P.M.
