Day 2

Day 2: After breakfast, we meet our step-on guide, and depart for a day of sightseeing in Vermont. We begin at the 165-foot deep, mile-long Quechee Gorge, Vermont' Little Grand Canyon for a photo-stop. Next we visit a family farm located off the beaten path on a hillside in Woodstock, Vermont. Here we will learn how Sugarbush Farm, famous for its excellent waxed cheeses, produces 14 varieties of cheeses. Also, we will learn about maple sugaring and the production of pure Vermont maple syrup and a variety of sweet Vermont maple products. Following our tour enjoy a TASTE of their assorted cheeses and a TASTE of different grades of pure Vermont maple syrup. Next we travel to Windsor, Vermont and visit Harpoon Brewery and Silo Distillery. Established in 1986, Harpoon Brewery is an American brewery known for its Harpoon Pale Ale and a host of year-round craft beers. At Harpoon Brewery you can enjoy a TASTE of their local brew after learning about the brewing process from beginning to end on our guided tour. Lunch is included in the Harpoon Brewery Pub. At the Silo Distillery you will find exceptional high quality handcrafted whiskeys, gin, rum and flavored vodkas, and enjoy a guided tour of their award-winning distillery. Next we return to Woodstock and have some leisure time to explore Woodstock Village. A visit to "the prettiest town in north America," isn't complete without exploring Woodstock's two main streets and its charming shops, local boutiques, art galleries, Main Street merchants, and view attractive Bed and Breakfast Inns, all within walking distance. Before returning to the lodge, we are treated to some delicious homemade ice cream from Mountain Creamery, a family-owned-and-operated eatery that embodies strong farm-to-table connections through locally sourced ingredients, and have been making delicious breakfast, lunch, and ice cream favorites since 1987 from scratch. Tonight, a delicious dinner is included. (B, L, D)

Day 3

Day 3: After breakfast, we meet our step-on guide, and depart for another day of eating, drinking and touring in Vermont that begins at Danforth Pewter. At Danforth Pewter you can view a gallery filled with one-of-a-kind pewter pieces, see a history wall displaying antique Danforth pieces, and from workshop viewing windows watch local craftsmen at work. Also, don't forget to visit the gift shop for that unique gift to take home with you. Next we travel to the picturesque New England community of Middlebury, Vermont. The town is everything you'd expect in a quaint Vermont village - a white steepled church, a Main Street lined with unique shops and a pretty town green. Stop and admire Otter Creek as it tumbles over a twenty-foot waterfall in the center of town. Enjoy some leisure time exploring and browsing Middlebury's many specialty shops and restaurants. Lunch is on your own. Following lunch, we visit Woodchuck's Hard Cider for a tour and TASTING. In August of 2014 Woodchuck's Cider House and Tap Room opened in Middlebury. The Cider House and Tap Room invites you to enjoy a self-guided tour through Woodchuck's history, and of course to visit a tasting bar that features 20 ciders on tap and a gift shop with all types of Woodchuck gear. Before returning to our lodge for a good night's rest, we are treated to a gourmet dinner and live cooking demo featuring a local Vermont chef. Enjoy being entertained "in the kitchen", learn cooking tips, recipes, and in the end TASTE the results! (B, D)
