Day 1

Welcome Aboard! Travel in comfort aboard our deluxe motor coach to "The Pine Tree State," Maine for a summertime holiday! Our first destination is the legendary town of Newport, Rhode Island. Upon our arrival you will have some time to explore the Brick Market Place, an open-air market, and browse its many specialty shops, galleries and boutiques along the waterfront. Before we continue onto Billerica, Massachusetts, where we spend the night at the Hampton Inn, we are treated to a delicious lobster dinner at the Wyndham Newport Hotel. (D)

Day 2

After breakfast we travel to the town of Freeport, Maine, the home of L.L. Bean, where you will have some time to leisurely browse and shop. Lunch is on your own. Voted the "Best Weekend of Shopping in New England" by Yankee Magazine Readers, Freeport is celebrated for its great outlet shopping and waterfront setting. Following our time spent in Freeport, we depart for Bar Harbor, Maine and the Bluenose Inn for the next two nights. The Inn is a luxurious property featuring tastefully decorated rooms and a glass front elevator, an indoor heated pool and spa, a Great Room lounge with piano entertainment nightly, and panoramic views of Frenchman Bay. Gorgeous views of Frenchman Bay await us while we are served a savory lobster dinner in the Looking Glass Restaurant, located at the hotel. (B, D)

Day 3

After breakfast we depart for downtown Bar Harbor for a 2-hour nature cruise on Frenchman Bay. Enjoy the coastal Maine scenery as we cruise past waterfront mansions and Acadia National Park. A naturalist on board will narrate the cruise as you search for local wildlife including seals, harbor porpoises, osprey and eagles! We visit downtown Bar Harbor following our cruise, for some leisure time, shopping and lunch on your own. This afternoon we meet our driver/guide and climb aboard Oli's Trolley for a 2-½ tour of Acadia National Park. Initially created in 1916, the park was given its current name of Acadia in 1929, and is the oldest American national park east of the Mississippi River. Included on our tour is a photo-stop at the Summit of Cadillac Mountain, the highest of Mount Desert's seventeen peaks, for spectacular views of the surrounding mountains, bay and islands beyond! Before returning to the Inn, enjoy dinner on your own at one of the many restaurants in downtown Bar Harbor. (B)

Day 4

After breakfast, we depart for Portland, Maine. Upon our arrival, enjoy some leisure time at Portland's renovated Old Port area browsing, shopping, and having lunch on your own. Following lunch, we depart for a pleasant and engaging 2-hour narrated Lights and Sights Cruise discovering the undeniable magic found along Maine's coast. Sit back, relax and enjoy our cruise through the bustling inner harbor and main shipping channel to get close-up views of Civil War era fortifications and the lighthouses that have guided mariners into Portland Harbor for over two centuries - including a close-up view of Maine's oldest and most photographed lighthouse, Portland Head Light. The lighthouse was commissioned by George Washington and built in 1791. As the cruise weaves it way among the islands, we enter Diamond Pass long considered to be the "Gateway to the Calendar Islands". Cruise past the villages and Victorian cottages on the islands and get a glimpse into island life. Later before checking into the Hampton Inn in Billerica, Massachusetts for the night, we are treated to a casual and traditional Maine Lobster Bake with all the trimmings at Bill Foster's Downeast Clambake in York, Maine.
