Day 1: Welcome Aboard! Travel in comfort aboard our deluxe motor coach as we head south toward sunny Daytona Beach, Florida. Before checking into the Hampton Inn in Santee, South Carolina for the night, we are treated to a delicious dinner at a Cracker Barrel Old Country Store. A $20.00 gift card is provided for you. (D)D
Day 2: After breakfast, we depart for St. Augustine, Florida. With more than 450 years of history, St. Augustine is known as The Ancient City, and is the oldest continuously occupied European-established settlement within the borders of the continental United States. Upon our arrival, we meet our driver/guide and climb aboard the Old Town Trolley for a tour of the city. Experience "transportainment", a delightful combination of transportation and entertainment, while your friendly conductor entertains you with a fascinating and fun mixture of historical facts, humorous stories and trivia. Following our tour enjoy some free time exploring St. Augustine on your own. Before we continue onto Daytona Beach, Florida, where we spend the next three nights at the Comfort Inn & Suites Daytona Beach Oceanfront, we are treated to a delicious dinner at The Raintree Restaurant in St. Augustine. Day 3: After breakfast, we depart for the Daytona International Speedway for a guided tour. Upon our arrival climb aboard an open-air tram and imagine the sights and sounds of this legendary racetrack while the tram coasts along turns 3 and 4 and you experience the 31-degree high banks for yourself. Next step off the tram and find yourself walking in the footsteps of driving legends past and present as you climb atop the podium in Gatorade Victory Lane. View this year's Daytona 500 champion car, left in the same condition as the day it captured the checkered flag, before we continue to discover more of motor racing amazing history while strolling through the Motorsports Hall of Fame of America. The Hall of Fame showcases spectacular displays honoring all forms of motorsports: stock cars, sports car, open-wheel, motorcycles, drag racing, land speed records, power boating and aviation. Following our tour, we depart for Angell & Phelps Chocolate Factory. Our visit will include seeing the production of fine quality, chocolates and candies, and includes enjoying free samples. Later we return to the Comfort Inn & Suites Daytona Beach Oceanfront where you are free to create your own memorable Daytona Beach experience. If you wish, simply enjoy the hotel's hospitality while you kick back, refresh, relax and view the Atlantic Ocean from your private balcony. Maybe take a dip in the sparkling outdoor pool and catch some rays on the sundeck, or take advantage of the easy beach access from the hotel, as well as walking distance to many restaurants, shopping and attractions, including Daytona Beach Boardwalk. Tonight, dinner is on your own. (B)B
Day 4: After breakfast, enjoy a free day at the beach! Spend the day at the world's most famous beach and experience the splendor of the Atlantic Ocean. Warm, lazy days and moonlit nights are perfect for leisurely strolling on Daytona's golden sand beaches or having a refreshing swim in the Atlantic Ocean. Visit the nearby Daytona Beach Boardwalk and pier for great fun, food and amusements. Dinner is on your own. The area is home to outstanding eateries bursting with flavors to savor. (B)B
Day 5: After breakfast we depart for Jekyll Island, Georgia. Upon our arrival, we sit down for a delicious lunch served in the Grand Dining Room at the Jekyll Island Club. In 1886 a group of wealthy Gilded Age businessmen purchased Jekyll Island as a private family vacation destination and winter retreat. By 1900 The Jekyll Island Club membership included such prominent figures as J.P. Morgan, Joseph Pulitzer, William K. Vanderbilt, Marshall Field, and William Rockefeller. In 1904, Munsey's Magazine called Jekyll Island Club "the richest, the most exclusive, the most inaccessible club in the world." The Club closed in 1942 and Jekyll Island was purchased by the State of Georgia in 1947. Following lunch, we meet our driver/guide and climb on board a sightseeing tram for an intriguing and history filled tour of the Jekyll Island Historic Landmark District, and includes viewing the grand "cottages" of some of our nation's wealthiest citizens and hear how they lived and played. Also, our tour will include a visit to the Georgia Sea Turtle Center, Georgia's premier sea turtle and marine life rehabilitation, education and research facility. Learn about sea turtles and see rehabilitation in action at the Centers large viewing area where rescued and sick turtles are treated. Enjoy exploring a host of interactive exhibits and experience a hands-on museum, exhibit gallery, and learn about the coastal ecosystem and habitat conservation efforts. Later we travel through Georgia and South Carolina to reach the Hampton Inn in Santee, South Carolina for the night. Tonight, we will enjoy a delicious dinner at Clark's Inn & Restaurant. Day 6: After breakfast settle back, relax, and enjoy treasured memories from our amazing Florida get-away, warm sunny days, Daytona's golden sand beaches and the soothing energy of the Atlantic Ocean! (B)B
