We will learn about Nashville's colorful history and beautiful architecture, drive by the Tennessee State Capitol, world famous Music Row, and through Centennial Park where we'll make a photo-stop at the Parthenon. The Parthenon in Centennial Park is a full-scale replica of the original Parthenon in Athens, Greece. It was designed by Confederate veteran William Crawford Smith, and built in 1897 as part of the Tennessee Centennial Exposition. Today the Parthenon, which functions as an art museum, stands as the centerpiece of Centennial Park, a large public park just west of downtown Nashville. Following our tour, we'll visit Nashville's Broadway Historic District. Explore and experience the entertainment of Broadway's vibrant musical honky-tonks, including world famous Tootsie's Orchid Lounge, restaurants, local stores, shops, and boutiques, all conveniently located within walking distance of each other. See the street where musical legends were made, and discover how the Broadway Historic District came to be known as "Honky-Tonk Highway". You will find Ernest Tubb's Record Store, Betty Boots and several Western Shops, plus, attractions like the George Jones, the Johnny Cash and the Patsy Cline Museums. Later, we check into the world-famous Opryland Hotel, and our Atrium Garden View accommodations for the next three nights. The Opryland Hotel is more than just a hotel - it is an experience! From the moment you arrive, you will discover a unique blend of southern hospitality and sophisticated style that has established the Opryland Hotel as a world-class resort! After breakfast we will get to see and walk in the footsteps where country superstars perform and amazing music is made every week for a national audience, when we are treated to a guided backstage tour of the Grand Ole Opry. Our backstage tour guide will share an insider's stories of the Opry House, it's place in country music, the stars, and the stage that's home to the unbroken Circle. So, enjoy a peek behind the curtain of Nashville's premier country music stage, hang out backstage, view the dressing rooms, and even stand in the famous center stage circle! Following our tour, we climb aboard the General Jackson Showboat, an authentic paddle wheel riverboat, for a 2-hour lunch cruise down the Cumberland River that includes an entertaining country music variety show. Later, we return to our hotel where you will have time to sit, relax and freshen up before going for dinner and a show.
