Day 1

Welcome Aboard! Join Gunther Tours for a festive getaway filled with spectacular scenery, holiday cheer, and Yuletide spirit in the charming seaside resort town of Cape May, New Jersey. Upon arrival, we will begin our holiday adventure with a delicious lunch served at The Lobster House Restaurant. After lunch, we will board the Cape May Trolley for a guided tour of the Cape May Historic District, home to the city's famous Victorian "Painted Ladies." These beautifully preserved homes are renowned for their intricate gingerbread trim and vibrant colors. While each residence features its own distinctive architectural details, together they create one of the most picturesque Victorian streetscapes in America. Following the tour, we will check into the Marquis de Lafayette Hotel, where you will enjoy a comfortable two-night stay. Take some time to relax and refresh in your spacious guest room before departing for an evening of fine dining and entertainment at a local restaurant. As you enjoy dinner, you will be treated to a captivating Victorian Christmas Traditions presentation. Discover how many of today's cherished Christmas customs - including decorated Christmas trees, holiday cards, and the familiar image of Santa Claus - originated during the Victorian Era. Learn how Prince Albert introduced many of these traditions from Germany after marrying Queen Victoria, and how they eventually spread throughout England and America. After this memorable evening of holiday dining and history, we will return to the Marquis de Lafayette Hotel for a restful night's sleep.

Day 2

After breakfast enjoy a leisurely morning before departing for a delicious lunch at Calloway's Restaurant in West Creek, New Jersey. Following lunch, travel to the Surflight Theatre in Beach Haven, New Jersey for a special holiday-themed musical show. One of New Jersey's best-kept secrets, the charming 450-seat Surflight Theatre has delighted audiences for more than 76 years. Renowned for its exceptional regional productions and intimate atmosphere, it provides the perfect setting to celebrate the holiday season with an uplifting show. After the show, return to our hotel in Cape May, where you will have time to relax and refresh before gathering for a delicious dinner at the hotel. This evening, we will conclude the day with a magical Holiday Lights Trolley Ride. Settle into the comfort of a heated trolley as you enjoy a front-row view of Cape May's beautifully illuminated Victorian homes and festive holiday displays. Along the way, your knowledgeable trolley conductor will entertain and share fascinating stories about Victorian Christmas traditions, making this a memorable finale to a wonderful day of holiday celebrations.

Day 3

After breakfast we depart for a guided tour of the historic 1879 Physick Estate, beautifully decorated in authentic Victorian holiday style. Step back in time as members of the Physick family household share the traditions and customs of a Victorian Christmas. Adorned with elegant seasonal décor, the estate captures the warmth and splendor of an 1890s Christmas, offering a glimpse into the holiday celebrations of a bygone era. During your visit, you will also enjoy the festive Christmas exhibit at the Carroll Gallery. Next, experience the charm of Cape May's Washington Street Mall, where a delightful holiday atmosphere awaits. Stroll among beautifully decorated shops, browse for unique gifts, and soak in the festive spirit. You will have free time to enjoy lunch on your own at one of the area's many inviting restaurants while exploring the picturesque Victorian streets at your leisure. Later, we will begin our journey home, carrying with us wonderful memories of Cape May's Victorian charm, festive holiday traditions, dazzling Christmas lights, and the warmth of the season. This enchanting holiday getaway is sure to leave you with cherished memories and the true spirit of Christmas long after the journey has ended.
