The Harriet Tubman Visitor Center &

Suicide Bridge Restaurant Crab Feast

Church Creek, Maryland

Today we travel across the Chesapeake Bay to Church Creek, Maryland on Maryland’s Eastern Shore.  Operated jointly by Maryland Park Service and the National Park Service, The Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad Visitor Center opened to the public in March 2017.  The visitor’s center will immerse you in Tubman’s world through informative, powerful and thought-provoking multimedia exhibits.  Harriet Tubman grew up in slavery in Maryland’s Choptank Region of Dorchester County, lived, worked, and worshipped in places near the visitor center.  It’s from this area that she first escaped slavery, and where she returned about 13 times over a decade, risking her life time and again to lead some 70 friends and family members to freedom.  To carry out the dangerous missions, she used the Underground Railroad, a secret network of places and people.  We will conclude our day on Maryland’s Eastern Shore with an all-u-can-eat crab feast at Suicide Bridge Restaurant in Hurlock, Maryland.  Enjoy plenty of hot and spicy crabs, cool drinks, and the fellowship of friends old and new while dining in the waterside atmosphere of the Suicide Bridge Restaurant.  Your crab feast will consist of all the steamed crabs “u” can eat, crab soup, fried chicken, clam strips, corn-on-the-cob, coleslaw, dessert, iced tea, soda, coffee and draft beer.  Note: On the return trip home, we will make a stop at an Eastern Shore Market.  Bring along a cooler and take home some Eastern Shore foods, fresh baked breads, meats, soups, and salads made fresh daily.
