Kennedy Center - "Chicago" 26

"Chicago" is the longest-running American musical in Broadway history. Set amidst the razzle-dazzle decadence of the 1920s, "Chicago" has everything that makes Broadway great: a universal tale of fame, fortune, and all that jazz . . . one show-stopping song after another . . . and the most astonishing dancing you have ever seen.

Travel today to our nation’s capital, Washington, D.C., and spend a delightful afternoon with the cast of “Chicago” at The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts“Chicago” is the longest-running American musical in Broadway history.  Set amidst the razzle-dazzle decadence of the 1920s, “Chicago” has everything that makes Broadway great: a universal tale of fame, fortune, and all that jazz . . . one show-stopping song after another . . . and the most astonishing dancing you have ever seen.  “Chicago” is the story of Roxie Hart, a housewife and nightclub dancer who maliciously murders her on-the-side lover after he threatens to walk out on her.  Desperate to avoid conviction, she dupes the public, the media, and her rival cellmate Velma Kelly by hiring Chicago’s slickest criminal lawyer to transform her crime into a barrage of sensational headlines, the likes of which might just as easily be ripped from today’s tabloids.  With a legendary book by Fred Ebb and Bob Fosse, music by John Kander, and lyrics by Fred Ebb, “Chicago” is the winner of six Tony Awards, including Best Musical Revival.  Note:  “Chicago” is recommended for ages 13 and older.  Before the show enjoy a delicious luncheon at Gadsby’s Tavern Restaurant in Alexandria, Virginia.  A U.S. National Historic Landmark, Gadsby’s Tavern Restaurant has been offering fine dining since 1770.  Please provide a meal choice when making your reservations.  Your choices are Ale Battered Codfish, Butternut Squash Ravioli, Chicken Salad, or Monte Cristo Virginia (puff pastry stuffed with Smithfield ham, smoked turkey, and Swiss cheese with a fresh berry sauce)
