Day 1
Welcome Aboard! Settle back, relax, and enjoy a leisurely drive to the shores of beautiful Chautauqua Lake for an exhilarating getaway. Upon arrival, we check into the Chautauqua Harbor Hotel, our home for the next three nights. This elegant lakeside hotel is set amidst beautifully landscaped grounds and offers panoramic views of Chautauqua Lake. This evening, enjoy a delicious dinner at the hotel.
DDay 2
After breakfast we meet our step-on guide and depart for a full day of touring in "Lucy's Hometown," Jamestown, New York. Our guide will introduce us to places of significance in Lucille Ball's life, including the house where she was born, the home where she grew up, the larger-than-life I Love Lucy murals, the legendary Lucy statues, Lucy's final resting place, and more.
Next, we visit the Lucy Desi Museum & Desilu Studios for a guided tour and a look back at the golden days of filming the legendary I Love Lucy show. Enjoy a behind-the-scenes look at the creation and production of the show, and experience exact re-creations of the iconic sets, including Lucy and Ricky Ricardo's New York City apartment and the Hollywood hotel suite. You will also see the interactive Vitameatavegamin set, a screening area, original scripts, and showcases filled with vintage memorabilia and costumes worn on the show. Following our tour, today's nostalgic outing continues with a first-hand experience at a re-creation of Ricky Ricardo's famous Manhattan nightclub. While at the Tropicana Club, enjoy a delicious lunch while watching one of your favorite episodes of I Love Lucy. After lunch, we visit the award-winning National Comedy Center for an interactive journey through the history of comedy, from early vaudeville to today's viral sensations. We conclude our touring day at the Lucy Desi and Comedy Gift Shop, featuring the most comprehensive selection of official Lucy, Desi, I Love Lucy, and Desilu Studios merchandise. Later, we return to our hotel with time to relax and freshen up before departing for this evening's wine tasting and dinner at Liberty Vineyards & Winery in Sheridan, New York.
Day 3
After breakfast we meet our step-on guide, change gears, and set out to explore a simpler way of life along the Amish Trail. We will travel through beautiful countryside while learning about the history, customs, and traditions of the Old Order Amish settlement. Throughout the day, you will enjoy many interesting sights, including Amish buggies traveling along the road at their comfortable pace of approximately 10 mph. Along the way, you will encounter a distinctive way of life grounded in faith, family, and community, intentionally separated from the modern world. The Amish are known not only for their culture, but also for their finely crafted handmade goods such as quilts, rugs, baked goods, jams, candy, furniture, baskets, woodworking, toys, leather goods, and more. Unlike some Amish communities in Ohio or Pennsylvania, there are no large all-inclusive Amish stores here. Instead, you will find small, individually owned Amish businesses marked by simple signs indicating what they sell. We will stop at an Amish Quilt Shop, a Bake Shop, and a Cheese Factory, where you will receive special goodie bags. A delicious lunch is included today at a local restaurant. After a full day of Amish country sightseeing, we return to our hotel to relax and freshen up before departing for an evening aboard the Chautauqua Belle. It is "All Aboard!" for a delightful dinner cruise on Chautauqua Lake. Enjoy a festive atmosphere and the fellowship of friends old and new while dining on a delicious dinner, all set against the panoramic views of beautiful Chautauqua Lake.
B, L, DDay 4
After breakfast we step back in time as we enjoy a guided tour of the world-famous Chautauqua Institution, a National Historic Landmark nestled along the shores of beautiful Chautauqua Lake. Our knowledgeable step-on guide will join us for a leisurely bus tour through the historic grounds while sharing the history, traditions, and unique way of life that make Chautauqua so special. As we travel through the charming, tree-lined streets, you will see Victorian homes, lecture halls, theaters, and the famous Amphitheater, the heart of the Institution. You will hear stories about the Chautauqua Movement, its cultural significance, and the many notable speakers, performers, and visitors who have spent time here over the years. There will be time to step off the coach to explore selected areas on foot, browse the quaint shops, or simply relax and take in the peaceful lakeside atmosphere before enjoying a delicious buffet lunch. After lunch, we depart for home with wonderful memories of rich history, beautiful landscapes, the extraordinary Amish community, and the laughter and friendship that made this tour so special - leaving everyone with a renewed appreciation for the magic that continues to make us all say, "I Love Lucy!"
