Welcome Aboard! Travel in comfort aboard our deluxe motor coach to the scenic border region of northern New York State and southeastern Ontario, Canada - home to the breathtaking Thousand Islands. This freshwater paradise features hundreds of miles of picturesque coastline, along with sparkling lakes, winding rivers, cascading waterfalls, and magnificent state parks. Upon arrival, enjoy a three-night stay at Captain Thomson's Resort, ideally located in the heart of downtown Alexandria Bay, New York. The resort sits directly across from the iconic Boldt Castle on Heart Island and is adjacent to the main shipping channel of the St. Lawrence Seaway, offering beautiful waterfront views. Your stay begins with a delicious welcome dinner at Blu Anchor, a lively and inviting restaurant known for its casual atmosphere - perfect for relaxing and connecting with fellow travelers.
DDay 2
After breakfast have your PASSPORTS ready as we cross the border into Canada and continue to Ottawa, the nation's capital. Upon arrival at Commissioners Park, enjoy a spectacular display of more than two million tulips set against the scenic backdrop of Dows Lake along the Rideau Canal. Next, enjoy free time for lunch on your own at Byward Market, one of Canada's oldest and largest public markets, offering a wide variety of local foods and unique shops. Following lunch, we will meet our step-on guide for a comprehensive tour of Ottawa, where you will learn about the city's rich culture, history, and government, including views of the Parliament buildings. Before departing Canada, we will enjoy a delicious dinner at a restaurant in downtown Ottawa. After dinner, have your PASSPORTS ready once again as we re-enter the United States and return to our resort in Alexandria Bay, New York for a relaxing evening.
B, DDay 3
After breakfast embark on a narrated sightseeing cruise through the breathtaking Thousand Islands. Sit back and relax as you enjoy a rich historical narrative highlighting the river, the islands, and the magnificent homes that line the waterways. As you navigate the narrow island passages, surrounded by natural beauty, you will be captivated by the majesty, diversity, and unique character of these remarkable residences. Your cruise includes a stop at Singer Castle, a turn-of-the-century architectural masterpiece nestled between the American and Canadian shorelines. Built in 1905 by Frederick Bourne, this historic castle offers a fascinating glimpse into a bygone era of wealth and elegance. During your guided tour, step inside the Great Hall, where suits of armor and antique weaponry evoke the feeling of medieval times, and explore rooms filled with original furnishings and rich history. A box lunch is included as you continue your cruise to Boldt Castle, where you will enjoy a self-guided tour of the castle and its beautifully maintained grounds. This grand Rhineland-style castle was commissioned by George C. Boldt as a tribute to his beloved wife, Louise. Tragically, her sudden passing in 1904 led Boldt to halt construction, leaving the castle as a lasting monument to his love. Later, return to downtown Alexandria Bay, where you will have the remainder of the day at leisure to explore the charming waterfront village - perfect for browsing local shops, strolling along the riverfront, and enjoying dinner on your own at one of the area's inviting restaurants.
