Join Gunther Tours for an exciting “New Day Tour,” down the 95-corridor to “The Old Dominion State,” and Riverfront Canal Cruises and Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden located in Richmond, Virginia.  Upon our arrival, we climb aboard Riverfront Canal Cruises and cruise through Richmond’s past and present.  Sit back, relax and enjoy a historically narrated tour of the James River and Kanawha Canal designed by George Washington.  Hear about centuries of Richmond’s history, from Chief Powhatan’s Chiefdom to the first commercially successful electric streetcar in the world, while traveling in an authentic, covered, 32-foot flat-bottomed boat.  See the unique railroad Triple Crossing, tobacco warehouses that have been converted into trendy lofts, the Canal Walk, the Virginia Capital Trail, the Low Line gardens and James River wildlife.  Next, we depart for the Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden for a delicious lunch and a guided tour.  Relax and enjoy the fellowship of friends old and new while dining on a seasonal soup and salad buffet.  This buffet celebrates the finest the season has to offer with two homemade soups; salad bar with more than fifteen items; bread; dessert; iced tea and coffee.  After lunch we have scheduled a guided tour.  To provide you with the best possible tour experience we have arranged for a guided tour led by a trained volunteer Garden Guide.  We will learn about the rich history of this historic property while visiting many of the themed gardens including the Children’s Garden, Rose Garden, Healing Garden, Sunken Garden, Asian Valley, and Victorian Garden.  Also, located on the grounds is a spectacular classical domed Conservatory.  Time will be given to visit the well-stocked Garden Shop filled with distinctive merchandise including gardening accents and tools, containers and statuary, home décor, jewelry and fashion, soaps and lotions, educational games and toys for children, gardening and nature books, gardening gifts, and more!
