Today, step into a world bursting with color and wonder at Brookside Gardens. Enjoy an up-close encounter with hundreds of live butterflies from North America, Central America, South America, Africa, and Asia as they glide and flutter among vibrant blooms inside the South Conservatory. Knowledgeable staff and volunteers will be on hand to answer questions as you explore the fascinating world of Lepidoptera, the order of winged insects that includes butterflies. Learn about the stages of metamorphosis, the vital role butterflies play in maintaining healthy ecosystems, and simple ways to help these beautiful pollinators thrive in your own garden. Your visit also includes a self-guided tour of Brookside Gardens, a 54-acre public display garden located in Wheaton Regional Park. The gardens feature a variety of distinct garden areas, walking paths, gazebos, and two conservatories, which house a collection of tropical and seasonal plants. Before our visit, enjoy a delicious lunch at Olney Grille, a welcoming neighborhood gathering place in the heart of Olney, Maryland. Please select your lunch entrée at the time of reservation: New York Melt Sandwich, The Backyard Burger, The Hickory Pig Sandwich, or The Olney Cobb Salad. The restaurant features comfortable booths and tables, open ceilings, warm wood and stone accents, and a large collection of photographs highlighting the people, places, and history of Olney and the surrounding communities.
